Allen is humble at heart and excepts people as they are just like his grandfather. Allen and Howard stand together here in Atlanta on Piedmont Street. Allen was commissioned to create this huge sculpture for the Olympics. he was the one grandson that bonded to Howard Finster's cement mosaic works of art. No other family member has shown and interest or carried on the tradition in the manner that Allen has. Allen got his training from Howard Finster when he was old enough to pick up a shovel and mix cement in a wheel barrow. Allen did not build the original Sculpture Garden in Paradise Gardens or the sidewalks down to the huge cement shoe. Allen did build the newer sidewalks leading from the pathway from the barn up to the Garden Chapel. Howard also hired him to build the sidewalks leading from the Chapel to the Old Gallery Building. Allen has his own personal Sculpture Garden behind his house next to Paradise Gardens. Allen also placed a large cross in front of the Old Gallery building in a flower garden.
Allen's artistic abilities do not stop there.
Howard trained Allen to burn his designs into wood to decorate the clock frames and small furniture pieces. Howard Finster left this legacy to Allen and he is now creating the most beautiful framing that you can purchase. He first takes rough wooden strips and prepares them for framing. Every inch of the design is hand-made by Allen who uses Howard's carved metal designs to burn into the framing.
